Sacred Heart University, founded in 1963, is an independent, co – educational university in the Catholic intellectual tradition. SHU is the second largest Catholic University in New England. Sacred Heart University (SHU) ranks as one of “America’s Best Colleges” according to US News & World Report.

SHU’s main campus is located in Fairfield, Connecticut, area of 65 acres. SHU’s campus is situated 55 miles (90 km) from New York City and 150 miles (240 km) from Boston, MA. SHU’s campus is safe and secure with 24/7 monitoring and dispatch by campus Public Safety Officers. SHU has a vibrant student life including international students from over 50 countries. A dedicated student life staff also arranges numerous international festivals and activities which allows for the holistic immersion of international students into the SHU community and beyond.

The University continues to grow in both its student population and innovative program offerings. In 2009 – 10 academic year, nearly 150 international students have enrolled in Sacred Heart University’s undergraduate and graduate programs. Our international strategic planning forecasts an increase in our overall international student population from 2.5% in 2010 to 10% by 2015. In addition, our undergraduate and MBA students have the unique opportunity to study at our own Sacred Heart University campus in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, providing students with real-world education and experience in international business. Average class size of undergraduate students is 22 and 16 for graduate students.

English Language Requirements: For undergraduate and postgraduate students: Students require minimum overall 6 bands in IELTS or 80 in TOEFL – iBT.
